Madelaine Moore (Director | Orthoptist)

Maddie is passionate about helping people engage in their best version of life. With a particular interest in adult and paediatric strabismus, and amblyopia.

Maddie graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Orthoptics in 2016. She worked at Royal Darwin Hospital, Ophthalmology Department for 6 years as the lead Orthoptist, and Indigenous Eye Health Coordinator. During her time, she gained experience working across various types of eye conditions and disorders, including strabismus, amblyopia, autism spectrum disorder, and cerebral palsy. She also worked with many adults affected by ocular nerve palsies, suffering double vision or permanent vision impairment.

Maddie gained experience working across the entire Top End, travelling to Katherine, Nhulunbuy, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She underwent extensive training to deliver culturally safe eye care services to First Nations People within the NT.

In addition to her services at Royal Darwin Hospital, Maddie has been the NT representative on the Orthoptics’ Australia Board for 3 years and partakes in Vision 2020s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee where stakeholders across Australia strategise for better outcomes in eye health.
